Help Your Patients Heal in Comfort — and Take Back Control
K-LOCK™ is a fully sutureless drain securement device built on a simple, elegant mechanical principle: it works like a Chinese finger trap. A braided sleeve slips over the drain tubing and adheres to the skin. If the drain is tugged, the sleeve's inner diameter narrows and the trap tightens instantly — holding the drain firmly in place without pinching or occluding the tubing itself. There's no needle, no thread, and no piercing of the skin.
With its rotary retainer, K-LOCK™ lets the patient — or a caregiver — lift a small tab and rotate the drain to a new position at any time, steering it away from clothing, seatbelts, sports bras, or pressure points. This is the heart of K-LOCK's "Control Your Comfort™" design: patients are no longer stuck with a drain pointed in whatever direction it happened to be sutured. They decide.
The Key Benefits of K-LOCK™
Significant Pain Reduction
Traditional sutures pierce the skin and pull with every movement, and studies show that drain-site pain can rival incision-site pain for weeks after surgery. K-LOCK™ eliminates the suture entirely, so there's no needle stick at the drain site and dramatically less day-to-day tugging pain as patients go about their recovery.
Less Skin Irritation, Fewer Complications
Many patients with sutured drains develop significant irritation, redness, or breakdown at the suture site. Because K-LOCK™ relies on an adhesive pad and a braided sleeve rather than a needle and thread, it removes one of the most common sources of drain-related skin trauma.
Faster, More Reproducible Application
Suturing a drain takes time and technique, and results vary from surgeon to surgeon. K-LOCK™ applies in a fraction of the time of a sutured securement, with a consistent, repeatable process every time — freeing up valuable minutes in the OR or at bedside.
Patient-Controlled Comfort and Mobility
The rotary retainer means patients aren't locked into a single drain orientation for the length of their recovery. They can reposition the drain away from sensitive areas, clothing, or compression garments whenever they need to — a level of control a suture simply can't offer.
-
A Complete Kit for Every Drain
K-LOCK™ ships as a compact, sterile, ready-to-use kit — everything needed to secure a drain in one package, with no additional dressings required.
-
K-LOCK™ Securement Device
The core braided-sleeve retainer that adheres to the skin and grips the drain tube on contact with any outward tension, holding it securely without restricting flow through the tubing.
-
Compression Retainer
Engages before placement to compress the braided sleeve for easy positioning over the drain, then releases to let the device do its job — reliable, reactive holding power exactly when it's needed.
-
Trocar (Optional)
For surgeons who want it, a 5mm trocar is available for precise tunneling during drain placement, streamlining insertion before the K-LOCK™ device is applied.
K-LOCK™ is currently compatible with 15 Fr round hubbed and hubless drains, 19 Fr round hubbed drains, and JP drains in sizes 7 and 10 — covering the great majority of surgical drains used in practice today.

The Science Behind K-LOCK™
K-LOCK's braided-sleeve mechanism is a modern application of a very old idea: the tighter you pull, the tighter it grips. As tension is applied to the drain tube, the inner diameter of the braided sleeve narrows around it, reactively cinching down and preventing the drain from slipping out — all without compressing or occluding the tube itself, so drainage is never compromised.
In benchtop testing, K-LOCK™ withstood over 18 Newtons — roughly 4.2 pounds — of pulling force before any drain movement was detected, holding power on par with nearly a full 2-liter bottle of soda hanging from the line. That same reliability held up in clinical trial: in a randomized, prospective clinical study of 20 patients conducted by the Department of Plastic Surgery at Wake Forest School of Medicine and published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – K-LOCK™ was applied faster than a suture, caused no securement failures or adverse events, and was preferred by patients over traditional suture securement by a statistically significant margin in every category measured.
K-LOCK™ is protected by U.S. patent.
